What is Passerby?
Passerby is a new crowdfunding platform exclusive to independent film. Our platform provides both equity and donation based crowdfunding options, which allows filmmakers to connect with both donors and investors. For filmmakers, we believe this approach allows them to build an audience around their films. For donors, Passerby provides and opportunity for them to be engaged in the process of supporting the filmmaker. For investors, this offers them an opportunity to invest in a unique asset class with tremendous upside potential.
What is the difference between donation and equity?
On the donation based platform, the filmmakers offer you rewards in exchange for your donations and support. The rewards are gift that will typically be directly related to the film you are funding.
The equity platform is currently in development. It will allow the user to actually invest and take a profit interest in the movie. For filmmakers, this will allow them to fund larger movies. For investors, it allows them to be a part of a different type of venture and share in its success. We think that’s pretty exciting.
